‘Tis the season for family gatherings, the sound of holiday music, and increased traffic on our beautiful Hardwood floors!
We love this season, and we have tips for you to care for your Hardwood floors during host gatherings and family get-togethers!
1. Invest in furniture gliders.
After sending invitations to our closest friends and family members, all of them plan to arrive with empty stomachs and time to spare! Before moving your furniture around, protect your flooring with gliders. They can be purchased at all major retailers. They’re a small investment for the protection of your one floors. Do you have carpet instead of hardwood? This tip still applies!
2. Clean Spills As They Happen.
Accidents happen, and that’s okay! Be sure to have a quality carpet cleaner or an absorbant microfiber towel close by your high-traffic areas. Additionally, encourage your family to join you in the attention to potential spills. Let them know where the cleaning products are and keep them out in the open, in case they see something, and you’re preoccupied.
3. Create a sock basket for your guests.
It’s no secret: keeping your shoes on in the house captures dirt and unwanted germs in your home’s flooring. Encourage your guests to leave their shoes at the door by creating a sock basket. Provide cozy socks for friends and family to take home after the gathering is over.
